Coastal House Plans popular for the month of November
December 9, 2013
It’s rather obvious that the Coastal style house plans are quickly rising in popularity, making them a close competitor to the always prevalent Mediterranean style house plans and West Indies House Plans; this month in the battle for the hottest house plan it was clear that Coastal takes the cake! We had a tie for third place with the Mustique Model and the Tavernier Model. Both plans are 2-story Coastal house plans with a great room layout and similar square footage. You can only imagine that the first Thanksgiving feast wasn’t prepared in a five-star kitchen, or even a kitchen at all for that matter. Colonists had the bare essentials for most everything needed for day to day life. The earliest houses in Plymouth had thatched roofs, dirt floors, split wood to make thin boards called clapboards for the walls and a prominent fire and chimney area, since this was the only source of heat as well as the only way to cook. Each house also had its own garden, where vegetables and herbs could be grown during the appropriate seasons. The colonists were assigned land plots that were approximately 50 feet deep. The width of the lot was approximately 8 feet multiplied by the number of members in...

Here you will see an interesting story about the use of limestone for a custom designed residence that is nestled at the base of a mountain where rivers meet in New Bern, North Carolina. This waterfront beauty custom designed by Weber Design Group, Inc. will feature the unique masonry work of Tri-Stone, Inc. The picture below shows several rough limestone slabs. These special slabs were once four very large limestone blocks measuring 9 feet in length by 5 feet in height and width. Each individual limestone block has been given a weight and serial number from it’s hailing quarry so that no matter what is made from the stone, this special identification code will be carved into it. Collectively, these slabs will be used to create step treads and...

You built it where? Although we are located in Naples, Florida we sell our house plans all over the country and all over the world. For example, a large portion of our home plans are sold to the great state of Texas! Texas, like Florida is also bordered by the Gulf of Mexico so our coastal house plans are popular, but Texas is a big state, and the homeowners and developers of the inland lots have great interest in our Mediterranean house plans. These inland lots do not need house plans that are built with concrete blocks; therefore, we modify them to be built as wood frame construction. Another option some Texas home owners prefer is adding a ledge to incorporate brick to the exterior of the homes. Below...
