Weber Design Group Completes Construction Documents For Luxury Homes in Olde Naples and South Korea

January 11, 2011

Naples Architect  – Weber Design Group, Inc. President Bill Weber announced the design firm has completed construction documents for new custom luxury homes in Olde Naples and South Korea. Construction at both sites will commence in 30-45 days and will be completed in approximately 14 months.

The multi-level waterfront home in Olde Naples, Florida will be built by Grand Bay Building and Development. This home was designed with an Olde Florida/Tidewater charm and will feature 5,816 square feet under air, including five bedrooms, five baths, a pool bath and powder room, great room, wet bar, large dining room, a large island kitchen, study, exercise room, loft and an elevator. A pool cabana with a beamed cupola ceiling will be located in the rear of the home adjacent to an elaborate pool and matching boathouse. The expansive lanai includes a lounge area with fireplace, dining area, and outdoor kitchen. The thoughtfully designed outdoor space serves as the hub for all outdoor activities and is a continuous extension of the indoor living area, separated only by a large bank of pocket sliding glass doors.

This home also hosts a large 3-car garage with ample storage space. In keeping with its Olde Florida style, the home will have a metal roof, hardy-plank siding, custom fabricated railings, tongue and groove ceilings at all exterior porches and decks, and an exterior stone finish from living finish floor to the grade adding contrast to the hardy plank finish. Since the home was designed on a corner lot, special care was taken in the design to provide an attractive corner lot curb appeal. With that in mind, Weber designed a front entrance that is visible from all angles and features an expansive cupola centered on the corner of the home with a double set of steps broken by a quaint landing large enough for decorative plantings and a bench. The large front porch and main entry system are several steps above the landing. A circular reclaimed brick driveway and walkways bring additional visual appeal to the home’s entrance.

Weber has had great success designing over 100 homes in the city of Naples alone and is eager to see this home as it develops.

“Once completed, it will have a large and very quaint curb appeal perfect for the Olde Naples environment,” said Weber. “This is certainly a home that is ideally suited to the Southwest Florida lifestyle that incorporates the indoors and outdoors, that is comfortable and relaxed without sacrificing elegance and is open to frequent gatherings with family members and friends.”

The California/Mediterranean style home in South Korea was designed for a high-ranking South Korean government official and features all concrete construction with 6,933 square feet under air. The floor plan includes a magnificent foyer with a wide barreled ceiling that leads to a spectacular reception area. A radial stair tower set in a 28 feet high rotunda ceiling featuring large wood beams and a lighted dome welcomes the owner and guests. A stunning chandelier is suspended to a height just below the exposed beams. This magnificent reception area is sure to provide an unforgettable memory point.

As one would expect with a home of this caliber, the oversized living room, formal dining, family and kitchen are all generously proportioned. A massive theater has been designed for the basement level. The second floor includes a large guest suite with a living room, private sun deck and one and a half baths. Numerous features that are consistent with South Korea’s religious and cultural characteristics are included in the design, such as an octagonal tea room and expansive outdoor trellised garden areas. One of the challenges overcome by Weber was the Asian belief of the principles of Feng Shui. The design had to ensure the home exuded a calm and peaceful energy. Room layouts were based on room orientation in relation to how the home was placed on the lot and in which direction the home and rooms faced. There were also numerous security issues due to the client’s stature.

“Over the past several years, Weber Design Group has expanded its international presence,” said Weber. “The South Korean residence has been another enlightening and highly unique project. They are a very detailed oriented and very honorable culture. Working with them to ensure religious, cultural and day-to-day living needs were all met was exciting for our entire team.”
