Palm Beach Architecture
Palm Beach was founded in the late 1800’s by Florida railway tycoon, Henry Flagler, who built the lavish Royal Poinciana Hotel in 1894 and the Breakers Hotel in 1901. Over the next 20 years Palm Beach began to take shape throughout the industrial revolution, and became a popular winter retreat for the wealthy. The architectural styles being built at the time were reminiscent of grand palaces in Europe.
Several famous architects influenced historical Palm Beach architecture including Addison Mizner who is said to have spawned the popularity of Spanish-style architecture in South Florida at the time. There are other well-known architects of the time who influenced the look of Palm Beach with an eclectic mix of styles ranging from Mediterranean, to Modern, to Georgian.
Current styles being designed in Palm Beach by Weber Design Group offer a contemporary take on many of the same timeless styles designed nearly 100 years ago by these architects.
